If you are not a Bengali you may be wondering what the hell is this?????!!!!!!!
Let me have the pleasure to introduce it to you.
The main ingredient is muri (or murmere, as called in northern India). It is been mixed with every possible namkeen (one or other) available in bengal and the BADAAM of Bengal (simple peanuts!!!!) Some piyaanj (onion). Some lanka (green chilly). Some kheera. Some masaale. The bonding between all this is created by “ACHHAR KA TEL” (mustard oil with some pickle effect).
The garnishing is done by sprouted Bengal gram or peanuts AND a sword like piece of COCONUT. Who says that coconut is famous in southern India only???? And here is the jhaal murie for you.
The rate is same across whole Bengal- only Rs. 5. The quantity is also same. Special akhbaar ke packets specially created to sell it.
My life is also like a jhaal murie. Born and brought up in Uttar Pradesh, spent one year in Delhi and few months in Haryana (Gurgaon). Joined for job in Karnataka (Bangalore) and later on transferred to The Great West Bengal.
